The motor controller that Nissan has developed jointly with Hitachi, Ltd.
is built with a new 32-bit high-speed RISC (reduced instruction set computer)
processor. This allowed the number of discrete circuits to be greatly reduced
for a more compact design. Moreover, operations previously performed by
the hardware have been programmed into the software to enhance controller
reliability. Vector control technology, providing high efficiency and responsiveness,
is used to control the motor current to the optimum level matching the motor
torque and speed. This enables the vehicle to deliver responsive, enjoyable
driving performance faithful to the driverfs wishes.
