The lithium-ion batteries that Nissan is developing jointly with Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery feature lightweight and high energy density ideal for electric vehicles. Energy Density : 93 Wh/kg Power Density : 350 W/kg Cycle Life : 1,000 cycles The superb lithium-ion batteries offer about three times the energy storage capacity of lead-acid batteries and about one and a half to two times that of nickel-based batteries. Combined with a lighter vehicle body, they can extend the driving Range on a single charge to over 200km, which is generally considered necessary for typical city driving. Thanks to the high-power batteriesf unique discharge characteristics, a driving performance of 62kW can be provided even near the end of their discharge, making them highly practical.
